SORCERESS

AN ODD green glow. Visions — blurry and confused — memories?

Lying on his back — the world moving around him, the sun bathing the air in a fiery glow. Sirtago, his head bloodied, his eyes unfocused. "We would not be here," Poet heard his own voice speaking. "...but for you. Why do you evade your responsibilities? You cannot run away from yourself."

"Shut up..." Sirtago mumbling back. "Have the decency to die in silence. Why do you pester me like a fly?"

...now cold. Darkness, cold and close. Stone walls. A long tunnel. Again the world moved around him. He could see the back of a black armoured Tey'ei soldier. He was carrying something that Poet's legs rested upon.

...a face. Death. Long, fiery hair... white skin and green eyes. Death moves around him... touches him with cold hands... washes him. Why does death take so long? Why can Poet not see the afterlife? "Where is Sonne?" Poet asks. "Why can I not see her garden?"

"Lie still," is Death's only response.

Now green. Not the green of leaves but a pale, sick green glow of something unnatural. Poet feels pain. His body is stiff and his midriff is bound in white cloth. His clothes are gone.
